Route of the tour: Tbilisi – Jvari Monastery – ancient capital Mtskheta – Borjomi resort – Rabati fortress – cave monastery Vardzia – Kutaisi city – Bagrati temple – Gelati monastery – Sataplia cave – Stalin’s house-museum – Tbilisi
1 day. Arrival in Tbilisi – sightseeing tour around the city
We will meet you at the Tbilisi airport and take you to a cozy hotel in the capital. You will have time to unpack and have a rest from the road, after which we invite you to take a walk with us in the evening Tbilisi.
We will take you around the famous Tbilisi bathhouse with warm sulfur water, which gave the name to the city (“tbili” – in Georgian “warm”). We will also climb the Narikala fortress and look at Tbilisi from above.
In addition, we will visit the ultramodern Bridge of Peace, the picturesque street of Chardin and the Rike Park. Evening walk around the city will not leave anyone indifferent.
2 day. Monastery of Jvari – ancient capital of Mtskheta – Svetitskhoveli Cathedral
In the morning we are moving towards Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. We purposefully leave early so you can make the best photos: Mtskheta from a bird’s-eye view, from the Jvari monastery of the 6th-7th centuries, it looks fantastic in the morning! We have a walk through the colorful streets of Mtskheta, pay a visit to the main cathedral of Georgia – Svetitskhoveli, built on the burial place of the chiton of Jesus Christ.
In Mtskheta we will also visit a private wine cellar where you can taste different types of Georgian wine.
We will return to Tbilisi by night.
3 day. Borjomi Resort – Rabati Fortress
Our first stop is in the famous resort town Borjomi. We will drink plenty of healing mineral water (and take with us!), Walk around the beautiful city park, look at the summer residence of the royal family of the Romanovs.
Further, according to the plan, we have the city of Akhaltsikhe. There is a Turkish fortress Rabati of the XVI century, an Armenian Catholic church, a Georgian Catholic church, an Orthodox church, a wine cellar.
After that, we are moving to an overnight stay in a great family hotel in Vardzia.
4 day. Cave monastery of Vardzia – the city of Kutaisi
Early in the morning we will visit the unique cave city of Vardzia of the 12th-13th centuries, explore the underground passages and find the perfectly preserved medieval churches. By the way, Vardzia is a functioning monastery complex even nowadays!
In the evening we will reach the parliamentary capital of Georgia – the city of Kutaisi.
5 day. Bagrati Temple – Gelati Monastery – traces of dinosaurs in theSataplia Park
In Kutaisi we are interested, in the first place, in the objects included in the UNESCO World Heritage List: the Bagrati temple and the Gelati monastery.
Also, we will definitely visit the Sataplia National Park and see for ourselves the traces of dinosaurs found here in the 30s of last century. Be sure to visit the observation deck with a glass floor, so you can make a couple of mind-blowing photos.
We will spend the night in Kutaisi.
6 day. The Stalin Museum in Gori
In the morning we start for the homeland of Joseph Stalin – in the town of Gori. Here we can visit the General Secretary’s museum, see the house where he was born, as well as his famous armored car.
In the afternoon we will return to Tbilisi.
7 day. Departure from Tbilisi
At the right time, we’ll take you to the airport, hug you tight, wipe away the tears of parting and bless you on the way back.
